Community News — April 12th 2019

Welcome to our monthly newsletter update, where we are continuously providing you updates on what is happening at Horizon State. It has been another extremely busy month on all fronts, from new exchange listings, the conclusion of the vote for the Department of the Premier and Cabinet in South Australia, attending the ADC Forum in Adelaide and further development of our platform.

Wrap up of the Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council — South Australia vote

The Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council vote has now concluded with the announcement of the five successful individual representatives to complete the nine-member council. More than 1,400 recreational fishers participated in the vote to elect five members to the Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council, which was an outstanding level of participation by the recreational fishing community in South Australia.

According to the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, Tim Whetstone “The voting process has been transparent and historic — for the first time in South Australian Government history, Blockchain technology was used for the voting process. Blockchain is an exciting emerging technology which is extremely secure and already used all over the world to perform valuable transactions.”

This has been a landmark use case for our platform, and we look forward to the future opportunities that come through as a result of this being carried out successfully.

ADC Forum — Adelaide

Nimo, Andy, and Dan had the pleasure of spending 3 days in sunny Adelaide last month at the ADC Global blockchain summit. This was ideal timing, as it coincided with the conclusion of the vote we were running for the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and gave us an opportunity to meet face to face with the team we have been working with over the last couple of months. Nimo also participated in 2 panels alongside other industry leaders, one on Identity, Privacy and Sovereignty and the other about Education and the future of organisations and work.

The ADC Global Blockchain Summit brought together world-leading entrepreneurs, financiers, regulators, researchers, and innovators with Australian business leaders to focus on strategies and practical applications for business growth. This was the largest and highest level of speakers ever assembled in South Australia for a Blockchain event involving C-level, owner, entrepreneur and minister-level participation from over 30 countries around the world and some 500 people.

A few of the highlights of the event included an address from the Prime Minister of Serbia — Ana Brnabić about the future potential that blockchain technology has, a keynote talk and announcement about the launch of Binance Lite in South Australia from the CFO of Binance — Wei Zhou and various on-stage mentions from senior government officials regarding the Minister’s Recreational Fisheries advisory council vote that we have just run.

Development Update

Our development team has been working on a number of new features of our platform which have been built for specific use cases, as well as dedicating some time to clear out some of the more tedious tasks in our backlog. Over the last 6 weeks, we have managed to complete the development of a number of vital pieces of functionality needed to deliver our turnkey solution in the coming months. Aside from this, we’ve implemented a new mobile menu layout, become compatible with browsers we never intended to support, implemented donations functionality at the community level through a payment gateway and built out a new feature that can be used for candidates or campaigning for specific projects.

This latest feature utilises our new donations functionality, so that end users can either make a donation at the community level, or pick a specific candidate or project to pledge their money to.

The biggest piece of functionality we have ticked off the list this month is the integration with Amazon Cognito for our authentication service. This gives us the ability for end users to create their own account (while still remaining anonymous in our system), enables social logins, SMS/Email and passwordless authentication. This has been a mammoth effort in order to successfully implement this tool, so a huge thanks to our development team members for getting this across the line.

HST now listed on Upbit Exchange

Following hot on the heels of our success with Bittrex, Horizon State are happy to announce that our $HST token has now been listed on the famous UpBit exchange from South Korea.

In line with our vision of ensuring easy access to our token worldwide, we are glad that we now have this key market covered.
